On June 26th Sirona Cares, through a generous donation from Victor and Farah Makras, was able to ship three containers of essentials for refugees from the earthquake in Haiti. Over 20,000 people will receive clothing, bedding, shoes and toiletries. We focused on schools, orphanages, churches, and individuals who contacted us. The goods will be distributed throughout the country. It was an amazing endeavor of which countless people in Northern California took part.
From as far away as Sonora, Santa Cruz, Pleasanton, Santa Rosa and Petaluma goods flowed in from people wanting to help Haiti. Many schools, churches and yoga studios had drives. We were so overwhelmed that the San Francisco Fire Department stepped in to assist us by opening every fire house to collect donations. Hundreds of volunteers assisted with the packing. I'm re-posting the video of the project, and notifying everyone now that the goods not only safely arrived in Haiti last Friday, but will be cleared for release from customs in the coming days.
Our partners in Haiti have managed to get the goods out quickly, and the people here need to know how appreciated the shipment will be as we distribute items in the coming weeks. It should be an amazing event.
The Sirona team has been preparing our goals for the next 12 months, focused on rebuilding Mission of Hope school in Grand Goave and working with farmers on the Jatropha project. We have made a lot of progress, the groundwork is laid, and rapid work can begin in the coming months. It's a very exciting time. It is important to stop and thank everyone who assisted with this drive to benefit the Haitian people. Every day I receive words of thanks from people in Haiti or their relatives here, and I wish that every volunteer and donor knew how many blessings they are receiving from those who have so little, and appreciate their efforts so much.

Distance is not a hindrance if you want help somebody. And that’s possible by shipping out your stuff to those who are in need. I’m sure that this shipment brought a thousand smiles there in Haiti. It’s also good to see that the younger generation took part in reaching out and giving help to others.
